THE GOULBOLBA HILL MASSACRE
The Goulbolba Hill Massacre was one of the most appalling massacres. Sometime between 1866-1867 300 Aborigine people were slaughtered at John Arthur Macartney's St Helens Station, Central Queensland. This was due to a few aborigines killing cattle/livestock. This happened because they were forced from their hunting ground and forced to hunt down livestock just to survive! There was an eye witness that said "that day some 300 Aboriginal people, including all the women and children, were shot dead or killed by being herded into the nearby lake for drowning," this awful procedure was conducted by Frederick Wheeler infamous for his violent nature. He sent a group of native police to and i quote "disperse," of the Aborigines in his area due to them "resisting the invasion,". There was some evidence to support that 100 white men were participating during the massacre. The massacre involved men, children and women. The murderers were never sentenced for their crimes
